Go for gold –the City of Pforzheim

Pforzheim’s history and stories revolve around its reputation as the Golden City: roughly 80% of the jewelry exported from Germany comes from here and the local Goldsmith School was the first school of its kind in the world. Sights like the jewelry museum are also testament to the importance of the jewelry and watchmaking industry. As the golden gate to the Northern Black Forest, Pforzheim is the starting point for the famous long-distance Westweg trail, which leads from here as far as Basel.
