‘Chefsessel für einen Tag’ (Boss for a Day) is the slogan of the Junior Manager Contest (JMC), in which students from year 10 and above as well as trainees have the opportunity to run their own business like a real company boss.
The JMC is organised by the districts of Calw, Freudenstadt, Enzkreis, the towns of Freudenstadt, Horb, Mühlacker, Nagold and the Regional Economic Development Agency of Northern Black Forest. The overall event is managed and run by the Pforzheim-based business development specialist Steinbeis-Innovationszentrum Unternehmensentwicklung.
In 2019, Rutronik was once again represented by a team of four trainees. The preliminary round for the Enzkreis district took place at CAMLOG Vertriebs GmbH in Wimsheim on November 20, 2019. The aim was to ensure our company, which manufactured electric powered skateboards, operated efficiently in the market over four business periods. This demanded both creativity and business management skills.
Finishing a very creditable second in a field of twelve teams, we qualified for the grand final in Freudenstadt on November 30, 2019. The event was held at SCHMID Group / Gebr. SCHMID GmbH and saw the best three teams from each district (Calw, Freudenstadt and Enzkreis) battle it out for the title.
In contrast to the previous round, the task now was to develop an innovative business idea using various creative methods. At the end, each team had to present its innovative idea proposals to a jury of experts during a three-minute pitch.
We managed to secure a great fifth place finish. After this eventful and exciting day, we travelled home to Ispringen.
